Founded
in 1917 by Melvin Jones in the USA, Lions International can proudly say
it is the largest international service organisation in the world. A
family of members spanning from Australia to Brazil, from South Africa
to Scandinavia - all united by a common motto - "We Serve".
Lions throughout the world accomplish varying activities, from cornea
transplants to the supplying of hearing aids, creating awareness of
diabetes, promoting peace amongst the youth, fostering international
relations through youth exchange and developing and creating awareness
amongst the youth through "Leo" Clubs. LCIF, the organisations'
international grant-providing wing, brings in much needed grants for
training facilities, medical units and disaster relief in times of need.
During the floods in Mozambique, emergency grants were given to aid the
victims of this catastrophe. After September 11, 2001, victims families
were aided with counselling camps, paid for by LCIF funding. The recent
Tsunami disaster in South East Asia also received substantial funding
from L.C.I.F.
Lions Clubs International came to South Africa in 1957 and the
organisation has grown exponentially since then. There are now 4
Districts within this Multiple District which cover the countries of
South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland and Lesotho. The numerous clubs around
the country provide a vital lifeline for the many needy communities.
Clubs are made up of dedicated members from all walks of life who give
up their spare time to serve those in need.
This web site is dedicated to all these members and their partners who
make up this magnificent organisation - we salute you all!!

HEART OF A VOLUNTEER"
