It took us four years to get to
this point where we were able to purchase and present to the Knysna
Municipality a Rapid Response Vehicle which is being used in the
Sedgefield, Karatara and Buffalo Bay area. The vehicle was handed over
in September 2006 and to date has been invaluable in life saving
situations. It is a source of community pride to all the Sedgefielders
who have donated towards the cost of the vehicle. The service is aimed
at providing a fast response to the victim and providing life sustaining
support until the ambulance arrives. It has cut down the turn-around
time of the ambulance as well as the patient is usually stabilised and
ready for transportation by the time the ambulance arrives. We entered into a joint venture with our local Chamber of Business who
matched us Rand for Rand which ultimately came to R100,000.00. All our
Lions worked hard to achieve this creating a sense of team pride and
accomplishment. The photos below show our team with the vehicle, Knysna Mayor, Dr.Joy
Cole receiving the keys and signing the legal documents. Our Lions Logo
is prominently displayed on both sides of the vehicle.
